Day 18: Sand, Yoga & Babies

Did everyone aside from me, know there was going to be a sandstorm today?  In December?  Did they say it on the weather forecast because somehow I missed it.  Well, I miss A LOT but that's another sad story of Poor Language Acquisition.  On a happier note, here are some of the things I've eaten recently:

This is whipped banana oatmeal with toasted pecans and a lovely salad plate behind it.
(Israelis eat salad for breakfast, isn't that clever?)

Here's the close up:

  I got the recipe here:
and it's divine!

Whipped Banana Oatmeal
1/3 cup oats
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup rice milk
1 banana
handful of pecans, toasted in the toaster
dash sea salt
cinnamon
cardamom

Here's the trick:  You put the oats and the liquid in the pot as usual, but then you whip in the banana until it's totally mashed. (I saved about 1/4 of the banana to slice on top).  Keep whipping for 7 minutes or so and you will be left with a creamy, frothy, light oatmeal yum!  I was not previously an oatmeal lover and this recipe has REFORMED me.  I hope I get to eat this oatmeal everyday for the rest of my life.  It's that good.

Then we have:

Curried Scrambled Tofu w/Spinach & Tomatoes

This serves about 4-5 depending on appetite:
1 block firm tofu
1 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp tumeric
1/2 tsp sea salt
black pepper to taste
5 scallions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tomatoes, chopped
3 handfuls of spinach leaves
spot olive oil for sauteeing

Here's what you do:  Crumble the tofu with your hands into a bowl.  Mix in the spices until it is the uniform color of scrambled eggs!  Set aside.  Saute first scallions and garlic, then plop the tofu into the pan, then tomatoes and finally spinach.  Get it all hot and combined with properly wilted spinach and then YUM!

So today, before the sandstorm struck, I taught "Nutrition for New Moms" at a Mommy & Baby Yoga Class at Matnas Nof Yam in Herzliya Pituach.  OK, those were seriously yummy babies.  But I'm a vegan now so I didn't eat them.  Maybe just one little toe nibble...

Anyway, the reason I am telling you all this, is that I will be returning there NEXT Wednesday and it's FREE so if you are a new mom or know any new moms, or want to wrap up a plastic dolly and PRETEND you are a new mom (I won't tell), please join us!  Next week I will be passing out a brand new little cookbook by yours truly on Healthy Fast Food for Families with Young Kids and Hungry Moms & Dads.  Today when the moms were describing their current health challenges, the word "CHOCOLATE" came up an awful lot, so I have decided to devote a large portion of the class and the cookbook to healthy ways to enjoy Chocolate.  YUUUUUMMMM!  Email the yoga teacher to register:  miriamborowsky@gmail.com

And I fed the mommies of course because mommies need to be fed.  We drank Green Smoothies and ate these:

Vegetarian Spring Rolls with Spicy Peanut Sauce.
They were devoured.  They are awesome and so easy.  But the recipe is top secret unless you come to one of my classes.  Hint:  Rice Paper.  So easy.  So Yum.

And now to remove the clothes that I washed and then hung on the line to dry but now they are covered with sand and will need to be washed again.  Life is Good.
